"Do not stay in the dark, enjoy of light"

I don´t see well... Do I have cataracts?Cataract

Cataracts are a common cause of progressive loss of vision after age 40. Ophthalmologist nedds to make a comprehensive eye examination including other areas of the eye, such as the retina and cornea for other possible causes of vision loss before a diagnosis can be made.

But what is a cataract?

A cataract is the clouding of the natural lens, which is located behind the iris; it is called the crystalline lens. The images that we see go through this lens and are projected in the eye onto the retina. If we have a cataract, the image is not clear on the retina.

Can I improve cataracts without surgery?

A cataract ocurs through a process of aging of the lens (that´s why is more common after a certain age) or for other reasons, that accelerate their occurrence (diabetes, trauma, cortisone...) It is progressive and irreversible. If the loss of vision is due to a cataract, and you do not have surgery, it will not improve.

What are the symptoms of a cataract?

  • Photophobia or severe discomfort with light.
  • Difficulties with night vision or in low light conditions.
  • Confused or decreased vision.
  • Double vision or hazy and blurred vision.
  • perception of colors with a "yellow" hue.

What does the surgery involve?

The lens will be fragmented using the phacoemulsification technique so that it can be removed, then a small incision is made and an intraocular lens that unfolds within a few seconds is inserted inside the eye.We don´t use stitches.

What are the advantages of this technology?

  • Allows correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
  • It is not painful because the incision is very small.
  • Fast recovery
  • No hospital stay

The cataract occurs gradually after 45 years, but there are diseases that can speed up your development. It is now possible with the establishment of a multifocal lens PRELEX to eliminate it, which will allow us to correct presbyopia, myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, depending on the individual patient. That is, in most cases you will see without glasses at all distances (reading and watching TV).
It is a technique with fast recovery and almost always definitely.

prelex cataratas

What are these lenses PRELEX?

It allows in most cases a good distance vision, intermediate vision, and near vision, and minimizing to almost disappear the phenomena of "glare" (visual nocturnal light wreaths) and Dysphotopsia (sense of fog, etc.)

How are these lenses?

The new multifocal PRELEX lens allows a smooth transition between the zone of distance vision and near vision zone.

And if I have astigmatism, is this also corrected?

There are now no limits to the correction of astigmatism with toric multifocal lenses. They are individual lenses, each patient adjusted ,so that it is necessary to order them for their preparation after the pre-operative examination.

What is the operation?

By the technique of phacoemulsification, the natural lens is fragmented in order to be extracted, and by means of a minimal incision a multifocal intraocular PRELEX lens is inserted that unfolds within a few seconds in the eye.
We do not perform stitches.

What advantages does this technology have?

• Allows you to see at all distances
• Allows you to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
• It is not painful
• Without seam
• Rapid recovery
No hospitalization
We operate both eyes at the same intervention

How can I know if it is a suitable technique for me?

Responding to these questions:

• ¿If you have difficulty reading, or seeing everything near and far,?
• Do you have difficulty seeing while driving?
• Do not use bifocal or progressive lenses?
• Do you need to frequently change the strength of the glasses?
• Do the glasses disturb you in your daily activities?

If you have an affirmative, you could benefit from this technology.
